"One topic that emerges repeatedly on EDS email lists is
that of appropriate sporting activity. The usual answer—aquatic workouts
of some sort—is not satisfying for people, especially children, with a
strong desire for competition and activity. Yet many people with
disabilities do find ways to compete in sports, as the Paralympics and
the movie Murderball make very clear. Perhaps what we need is advice
from the United States Olympic Committee experts on disability sports.
If so, we are in luck with authors Karen P. DePauw, Ph.D., and Susan J.
Gavron, PED."
